Open source GPL software... forbidden!

Well, at least that's what this panel says at the entry of Lausanne's main train station parking...

As you can see, cars higher than 2 meters, going faster than 10 Km/h, people walking, GPL software and motorbikes are all stictly forbidden.

Now my question is, what does GPL stand for in French? Whatever it is, don't use it in that parking.

:-)
GPL can be associated with General Public License in the computer world.

But in this context, GPL is the (french) abbreviation or short form for "Gaz de Pétrole Liquéfié" (LPG in english, for Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
Like all fossil fuels, it is a non-renewable source of energy, It is extracted from crude oil and natural gas, and used on "alternative fuels" vehicles.
"Alternative fuels" are vehicle fuels that aren't made from petroleum. There are many kinds of fuels that vehicles can run on that aren't made from petroleum.

In this type of vehicle the risk of explosion poses a real risk to firefighters, and it is strictly forbidden in several (all?) parkings in Switzerland.

So, don't be afraid to park your car here if you have taken your full-GPL-licences-laptop with you :-)

Ahhhhhhh... I see that there's a good explanation :) (and that there's actually someone reading my blog!!) Thanks Bob!!!!!
